Dr. Contro was born and raised in the South Bay Area and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of California at Davis. He earned his dental degree at the University of California in San Francisco (UCSF), where he stayed for three additional years to obtain a specialty certificate in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.
Dr. Contro earned a master’s degree in oral and craniofacial sciences at the UCSF. While obtaining his master’s degree, he conducted cutting-edge, three-dimensional research on the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). His research won an award for best original research and is published in the Journal of Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society.
Dr. Contro’s dream was always to become an orthodontist. At his private practice, he uses advanced modern dentistry techniques and state-of-the-art treatment modalities, including self-ligating brackets, temporary skeletal anchorage devices, and Invisalign®. He maintains his advanced dental credentials with continuing education to stay current with the latest advances in dental surgery and pediatric and adult orthodontics.
He is passionate about educating patients on their conditions and treatment plans. Dr. Contro knows that successful orthodontic treatment requires cooperation with patients as much as it’s about an orthodontist’s skill level. He boasts a wealth of experience mentoring and tutoring children and enjoys continuing that practice through orthodontics care.
Dr. Contro is married to his college sweetheart, Steph. He enjoys spending time with her and his two sons, Jackson and Conor. In his spare time, he likes to play golf, take photos, and read.
