Invisalign Q & A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners to straighten teeth that are crooked or misaligned without brackets or wires. The aligners fit over your teeth to move them into an ideal alignment and improve the function and appearance of your smile.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Some of the many benefits you can experience by choosing Invisalign at Constant and Contro Orthodontics include:

  • Straighter teeth
  • Improved bite
  • Easier teeth cleaning
  • Clearer speech
  • Self-confidence

The Invisalign system is noninvasive and painless. It can produce dramatic results in just 12-18 months in many cases.

Is Invisalign right for me?

The expert orthodontists at Constant and Contro Orthodontics let you know if you’re a candidate for Invisalign after reviewing your oral health history, examining your teeth and gums, and taking dental X-rays.

They discuss your lifestyle, preferences, and desired outcome before personalizing an orthodontic treatment that’s best for you or your child.

What should I expect during Invisalign treatment?

During the first stage of Invisalign treatment, your orthodontist digitally scans your teeth and mouth. That allows a dental lab to develop custom-fitted clear aligners that fit comfortably over the top of your natural teeth.

When the aligners are ready, you wear them for 20-22 hours daily until your teeth reach their ideal position. Switch to the next set of aligners in your series about every 1-2 weeks as directed by your orthodontist. You can take the aligners out to brush your teeth, floss, and eat.

After about 12-18 months, you may be finished with Invisalign treatment. Your orthodontist might recommend wearing a retainer during certain times of the day or at night to prevent your teeth from shifting out of their new position.

How can I take good care of my aligners?

Keep your aligners clean by using the Invisalign cleaning system or brushing them with a toothbrush and toothpaste. Rinse the aligners with water but avoid using hot water because it can warp the plastic. Brush your teeth after meals before placing the aligners back in your mouth.
