What is an orthodontic consultation?

An orthodontic consultation is an initial visit to your orthodontist. It includes an initial discussion about future orthodontic treatment. 

Your orthodontist assesses your bite and the positions of your teeth and asks questions about your medical and dental history. That information helps them make recommendations for your orthodontic treatment plan. 

During the oral examination portion of your orthodontic consultation, your orthodontist assesses the aesthetics and function of your smile. They assess your bite and how your smile looks using:

• Photographs
• Panoramic X-ray
• Cephalometric X-ray
• 3D iTero® Element intraoral scan

If you’ve recently had a panoramic or cephalometric X-ray, Constant and Contro Orthodontics encourages you to bring the images in for use. The team believes in using the lowest X-ray dose possible. 

What is a virtual orthodontic consultation?

If coming in for an orthodontic consultation is not possible due to your schedule, you have the option for a remote virtual consultation. Using a secure channel on your tablet, phone, or computer, you’ll visit with your orthodontist privately about the future of your orthodontic care.

A virtual orthodontic consultation can:

• Save you the cost of fuel or transportation
• Save you travel time 
• Allow you to stay home with your children
• Happen while you’re traveling
• Keep you from spreading or catching any contagious illnesses going around at the time

Not all visits to Constant and Contro Orthodontics can be virtual visits. For example, your orthodontist may still have you come in separately for imaging tests or measurements ahead of your treatment. 

However, as you go through orthodontic treatment, some of your check-ins can be convenient virtual visits instead of office visits.
